Shopify broken link app · Set-and-forget

Every broken link on your Shopify store, found and fixed automatically.

Catalogs change — products retire, collections get renamed, blogs migrate. Relink scans your whole store on a schedule, finds every dead URL, and routes each one to the closest live page. Shoppers land where they meant to go, and Google keeps the link equity.

The hidden bleed

Five places broken links on your Shopify store are quietly costing you right now.

If your store is more than a year old, every one of these has probably happened. You just haven't seen the bill yet.

The collection rename

A renamed collection breaks 30+ product cards in one click.

You changed /collections/summer-23 to /collections/summer-essentials. Every "Shop the look" tile on your homepage, every blog backlink, every old email campaign — now points to a 404. Conversion on those entry points drops to zero.

The soft-404 trap

Shopify keeps sold-out product pages live at 200 OK. Google never disables the ad.

A discontinued product still shows in your Performance Max feed. The URL technically resolves — it just renders "This product is no longer available." Google's crawler sees a healthy page and keeps spending your budget. Shoppers bounce in under two seconds.

The post-migration ghost

Your imported blog posts still link to old WooCommerce slugs that no longer resolve.

When you migrated to Shopify, the importer brought your content across — but every hardcoded <a href> inside those posts and product descriptions still points at /product/old-slug URLs that 404. You can't see them from the admin. Relink finds every one inside your Shopify content.

The theme switch

A theme rewrite quietly broke half your internal blog links.

The new theme uses different blog handles. Hardcoded <a href> tags in old articles, footer columns, FAQ entries — all dead now. Internal link equity collapses overnight.

The out-of-stock delete

You deleted 80 sold-out variants. Their backlinks just became 404s.

Influencer posts, Pinterest pins, Reddit threads, blog reviews — every external link to those URLs is now worthless. You can't email every site and ask them to update. (When Relink fixes the link, it also installs a 301 so the external traffic still lands somewhere useful.)

How it works

From broken to brought-back in four steps.

Relink runs continuously in the background. You install once, then audit at your own pace.

01
2 minutes

Connect your store

One-click install from the Shopify App Store. We pull your URL graph, sitemap, and Search Console data without touching your theme code.

02
Continuous

Relink scans everything

A full crawl of products, collections, pages, blogs, and inbound links — including the ones you forgot about from old migrations.

03
Per URL

AI maps dead URLs to live pages

For each 404, Relink finds the closest semantic match using your catalog, content, and historical data. High-confidence matches go live; the rest sit in your review queue.

04
4–8 weeks

Authority flows back

Redirects preserve link equity. Within weeks, you see lost rankings recover and orphaned traffic re-enter the funnel.

Inside the app

This is what you'll actually work with.

No mystery screenshots. The dashboard, the fix drawer, and the history view — exactly as they appear inside your Shopify admin.

Every scan lands here: four KPIs and the open-links queue, ranked by AI confidence.

Features

Built for the messy reality of real Shopify stores.

Migrations, theme rewrites, collection renames, deprecated products — every store accumulates dead URLs. Relink finds them all and decides what to do with each one.

Stop checking manually

You stop running broken-link checkers every Monday.

Relink scans products, collections, pages, and blogs automatically on the hour you choose. Business plans scan twice daily so a new 404 surfaces before your next ad campaign sees it. You stop owning the chore.

No invented URLs

Every redirect points to a real page that exists today.

AI matches each dead URL to the closest live page in your store — products, collections, articles, all validated against your live catalog before anything is written. No hallucinated handles, no redirects pointing to another 404.

Cancel anytime, keep the redirects

If you ever cancel, your redirects stay.

Relink uses Shopify's native URL redirects — not a middleware layer that disappears when you uninstall. Zero theme edits, zero Liquid changes. Works with Liquid themes, Hydrogen, and headless storefronts.

Prove the ROI

Every fix tracked, every scan exportable as CSV.

Show your team what changed, when, and what it cost. Open links, fix history, scan cost, and duration — all exportable. When you renew, you'll have the receipts.

Nothing fails silently

Made a bad call? Undo it in one click.

Every fix is reversible from the history view. Partial fixes — content patched but the Shopify redirect failed — surface as warnings instead of pretending everything's fine. You'll never wonder what state your store is in.

Why not just…

Finding broken links was never the hard part. Fixing them is.

Any crawler can hand you a list of 200 dead URLs. The work is deciding where each one should go, editing the content, and installing the redirect — 200 times.

FAQ

Common questions.

How do I even know how many broken links I have right now?
You probably don't. Shopify's admin doesn't surface them — a URL only becomes a 'redirect' once someone notices and manually adds it. Based on our observations across established stores, the typical first scan turns up 60–300+ broken URLs (more after a theme migration). The free plan runs a full scan so you can see your exact number before deciding whether to fix them.
What's the actual cost of leaving broken links alone?
Three things compound. (1) Paid traffic: ads pointing to 404s still cost per click but convert at zero. (2) Organic rankings: Google demotes pages that link out to dead URLs, and any external backlink to a dead URL stops passing authority. (3) Returning customers: anyone who bookmarked, saved, or shared the old link gets a dead end. The damage is invisible until rankings slide — by which point you've already lost ground that's slower to recover than it was to lose.
Will Relink change anything on my live store without asking?
In Auto-fix mode, high-confidence redirects are applied automatically using Shopify's native redirects (your default threshold is fully adjustable). In Review mode, every suggestion sits in a queue until you approve it. Every action is logged and one-click reversible.
How is this different from Shopify's built-in redirect tool?
Shopify only handles redirects you tell it about. Relink actively finds the broken URLs you don't know about across products, pages, blogs, and metafields — then uses AI to suggest the right destination for each one and creates a native Shopify redirect.
Does it work with headless / Hydrogen stores?
Yes. Relink uses Shopify's URL graph, so it works with every storefront type — Liquid themes, Hydrogen, and custom storefronts via the Storefront API. Redirects are created at the platform level, so they apply everywhere.
How does AI matching actually work?
Relink reads each broken link in context — the page it appears on, the surrounding content, and the page type (product, collection, article). For each dead URL, it picks the closest live page by meaning, not just string similarity. Historical SKU and slug data factor in too.
Does scanning slow my store down?
No. Scans run entirely against the Shopify Admin API in the background. Your storefront is never touched during scanning or fixing — customers see zero difference.
Can I export everything if I cancel?
Yes — full CSV export of all redirects and their history at any time. If you cancel, your active redirects remain in your Shopify admin (we use native Shopify redirects, not a middleware layer).
