How it works in practice
What does the first 20 minutes with Relink look like?
Install from the App Store, land on the dashboard, hit Run scan. The first scan takes 2–5 minutes for a typical store and reads from Shopify's published catalog — no theme edits, no destructive operations. When it finishes you see a list of broken internal links, each with an AI-suggested replacement and a confidence score. Click a row, review the suggestion, and apply it (or pick a different page from the autocomplete). The fix installs a native Shopify URL redirect plus patches the source page in one step.
Can I see what changed before I commit to anything?
Yes. Default Fix Mode is Review — nothing changes on your store until you click. Every suggestion shows you the broken URL, the proposed destination, the AI's reasoning, and up to two alternates. If none look right, the autocomplete lets you pick any live page in your store. And every fix has a one-click Undo in Fix history — no time limit.
Is there anything I'd need to clean up if I uninstall?
No. Every redirect Relink installs is a native Shopify URL redirect, owned by your store and visible at Online Store → Navigation → URL Redirects. They keep working after uninstall. Relink only stores its own state (scan results, fix history) in our database, which is wiped on the GDPR redact webhook.
Setup & scanning
What does Relink scan, exactly?
Every internal link inside your products, pages, blog articles, and collection descriptions. Relink checks each linked URL against your live store and flags the ones that return 404. External links (to other sites) are skipped — those aren't yours to fix.
Can I cancel a scan that's already running?
Yes. The Cancel button on the dashboard stops the scan cleanly — anything already detected stays in your broken-links list, and you can re-scan whenever. No partial state is left behind.
How often does Relink scan automatically?
Pro stores get one daily scan at your chosen hour (Settings → Scan & detection). Business stores get a second scan 12 hours later. Free stores run scans manually — three per month. You can always trigger a manual scan on any plan if you've just made big catalog changes.
AI suggestions & fixes
What if the AI's top suggestion isn't the right page?
Open the row in the drawer. Below the top suggestion you'll see up to two "AI also considered" alternates with one-click apply. If none of them are right, the autocomplete search lets you pick any live page in your store — products, collections, pages, or articles.
What's the difference between Review, Auto-fix, and Global Redirect modes?
Review (default) holds every suggestion for your approval — nothing changes on your store until you click. Auto-fix applies high-confidence AI suggestions automatically and surfaces the lower-confidence ones for review. Global Redirect (Business only) sends every broken URL to a single page you nominate — useful during a major migration. You can switch modes any time in Settings.
A row shows a "Partial fix" badge — what does that mean?
The content was patched (so links in your store no longer point at the dead URL) but the Shopify URL redirect didn't save — usually because a duplicate redirect already exists or you've hit Shopify's 100,000-redirect cap. Click Retry redirect on the row, or see the troubleshooting docs for resolution steps.
Can I undo a fix?
Every fix has a one-click Undo button in Fix history. It restores the original link text and removes the Shopify redirect Relink installed. No time limit.
Plans & billing
What's included in Free, Pro, and Business?
Free covers 3 scans/month, 5 lifetime AI suggestions, 3 manual fixes/month, and stores up to 100 resources. Pro ($7.99/mo) unlocks unlimited scans, AI, and fixes, scans up to 2,500 resources, and runs one automated daily scan. Business ($19.99/mo) raises the cap to 50,000 resources, adds a second daily scan, the Global Redirect mode, and priority queue placement.
Is there a free trial?
Pro and Business both include a 7-day free trial. You can also stay on the Free plan indefinitely if its limits cover your store — every plan uses the same scanner and the same Shopify-native redirects.
What happens if I hit my plan's monthly limit?
We'll show a clear banner at 80% and again at 100% — no surprise charges, no silent throttling. You can upgrade in two clicks from the in-app upgrade button, which deep-links to Shopify's hosted pricing page.
Data & uninstall
What happens to my redirects if I uninstall Relink?
Every redirect Relink installs is a native Shopify URL redirect, owned by your store — not a middleware layer. They stay in your Shopify admin (Online Store → Navigation → URL Redirects) after you uninstall. Your storefront keeps working exactly as before.
How do I export my broken-link history?
CSV export is available on Broken Links, Fix History, and Scan History — open the page, click the export menu, choose a date range. Free plans included.
Where does Relink store my data, and what's your GDPR posture?
Scan results and fix history live in our managed Postgres database (US region). We never store customer PII — only your shop domain, the URLs Relink crawled, and the fix actions taken. GDPR data-request and redact webhooks are wired up; submit a request through your Shopify admin and we honour it within 30 days.
